Transition to school

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting and important milestone for children and their families. At Narromine Public School, we understand that a smooth transition to school lays the foundation for a positive and successful learning journey.

Our Kindergarten Transition program is designed to help children feel comfortable and confident as they begin their school life. Through a series of engaging visits, students become familiar with the school environment, including our classrooms, playgrounds, library, and canteen. They also have the opportunity to meet, and build relationships with teachers and fellow students, helping to create a sense of belonging from the very start.

During transition sessions, children participate in both group and independent activities that support early learning development and prepare them for the routines and expectations of school. These experiences foster social skills, independence, and a love of learning.

We recognise that starting school is not only a significant step for children but also for their families. That’s why we place great importance on working in partnership with families to support the social and emotional wellbeing of each child, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and ready to thrive.
